SSAF–AAA Research Grant for Histories of Ideas, Art Writing, and Visual Culture 2018

The Sher-Gil Sundaram Arts Foundation (SSAF) and Asia Art Archive (AAA) in India are pleased to announce the SSAF–AAA Research Grant for Histories of Ideas, Art Writing, and Visual Culture 2018. This grant, which is the first collaboration between SSAF and AAA in India, emerges from AAA’s ongoing engagement with histories of art writing, and its initiatives to map, compile, translate, and republish texts from various contexts. This grant is in line with SSAF’s commitment to work with cross-disciplinary initiatives addressing the oppressed and the marginalised, and alternative and heterodox practices in the arts and in intellectual work.

Medrar for Contemporary Art is accepting applications for the 8th Cairo Video Festival, which will take place in February, 2017. Initiated by the Cairo-based artist initiative Medrar for Contemporary Art in 2005, this festival continues its focus on providing a platform for sharing and discussing newly produced high concept/low-budget experimental videos and films. Light Cone (Paris, France) has just announced a call for projects for the second session of 2016 of the Atelier 105 video post-production residencies addressed to experimental filmmakers.

25FPS Festival is inviting new films to apply for the International Competition programme of the 2016 edition from 29th of September to 2nd of October. 
Expressive original concepts, progresses in terms of theme, idea and aesthetics, as well as works that perpetuate the tradition of avant-garde and experimental film.  Filmmakers, film artists, producers and distributors should submit films that are completed after 1st of January 2014 and not longer than 60 minutes. In the year 1999, Hong-Gah Museum was established by Mr. Andrew Chew, the chairman of Chew’s Culture Foundation with the principle to promote contemporary and new media arts in Taiwan and also to serve as a multi-functional exhibition venue. Hong-Gah Museum continue to receive high acknowledgements in the fields of arts and cultures, including the 2013 National Cultural Benefactor Award from the Council for Cultural Affairs of Taiwan and 2014 The 17th Taipei Culture Award from Department Of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government.

Taiwan International Video Art Exhibition is a biennial event with the year 2016 being the 5th exhibition. Selected artists with works pertaining to this year’s exhibition " Negative Horizon " will be invited by the curators to participate in the exhibition. In addition, an international open entry will be conducted to select works suitable for the exhibition.

Taka iimura was awarded Special Achievement prize ofJapan Media Arts Festival 2016. iimura lead mediaart scene from 1960's, and created various experimental film and video, on his performance and installation pieces. Congratulations!

A few weeks before 2015 comes to a close, Leuven International Short Film Festival is celebrating its 21th edition. Leuven Short Film Fest is the yearly 'place to be' in December for film professionals in the Benelux and abroad and is, as Academy Award Qualifying festival since 2012, the main Belgian gateway to one of the most renowned award ceremonies worldwide.  The festival will take place from November 27 till December 5, 2015 in different venues in the beautiful medieval city of Leuven. The festival program consists of more than 120 screenings in +5 venues. The program contains live action films, animated shorts, music videos, short films for children and non-narrative shorts.
